In the Diablo franchise, a hero is a playable character from one of the seven classes. Heroes are controlled by an in-game player, and each hero has a set of unique skills and abilities that can be upgraded. The player controls a single hero at any given time, dividing their attention between various tasks such as combat with monsters, exploration of the map and dialogue with non-player characters. As of late 2016 there have been few heroes released in Diablo 2 Median XL Hero Editor 1.13 compared to other versions--about 10 heroes have been released so far for Median XL Hero Editor 1.13 but more are on their way according to reports by people associated with this edition's development team. The Diablo franchise has spawned multiple hero editors by various authors in the past, many fans of the game have created their own versions of the game which they call "editions" or "mods." Some editions are more developed than others, providing a multitude of features not contained within Blizzard's official releases. The list below is a complete rundown of known hero editors and their features.
Version 1.13 is a modification for Diablo II: Lord of Destruction made by Snowie/Mihai Andrei, which is heavily inspired by Median XL Edition, also an overhaul mod for D2: LoD created by RGC_Logo. The mod has been released as open source software under the GPL license. Median XL has an extensive library of heroes, with more than 100 possible class combinations. The following is a list of released heroes, organized by level range: The following is a complete list of all the 32 original Diablo 2 classes. As of May 2017, there are 89 playable hero combinations in Median XL Editor 1.13.
Version 1.13 was the first release to contain the game's soundtrack in its entirety (albeit with no opening or ending credits). All of the music in the game is in MP3 format. The majority of music found in Diablo II is composed by Sylvain Despretz, a French musician who worked for Blizzard Entertainment in a variety of capacities from 1994 to 2014. The original Diablo II soundtrack was composed by Inon Zur, a Ukrainian musician who worked for Blizzard Entertainment from 1996 to 2003 before leaving to work independently from 2003 to 2007. Reception for the soundtrack has been mixed. The main reason is that many fans would prefer to have all of the Diablo II music in the form of an arranged after-battle victory fanfare, as it was in most other games at the time. The Diablo II soundtrack also contains a large number of unique boss themes for each individual enemy type, as opposed to the usual style of boss theme reuse. In Diablo II, almost all boss monsters use unique music tracks instead of recycled ones from the regular random monster encounters. In 2016 the team behind Median XL Edition released a version 1.13 multiplayer patch to fix various bugs and issues within their edition and bring it up-to-date. They plan to continue working on this edition and updating it multiple times per year as they work towards their ultimate goal: Median Xl 1.14 – The 15th Anniversary Edition – which was released on October 28th, 2017 .
